This complete renovation reimagined the very first home built in San Francisco’s historic Presidio Terrace. The project preserved the soul of a classic Victorian while seamlessly introducing modern details and amenities, creating a home that bridges tradition with contemporary living.
The scope was as ambitious as it was intricate: with minimal existing foundation, the house required a major structural overhaul. To accomplish the extensive renovations, the roof was removed and the entire structure was wrapped watertight—an engineering feat completed during one of the wettest winters in recent history.
The project brought together a distinguished team, including Geddes Ulinskas Architects, designer Donald MacDonald, structural expertise from John Brody Engineers (Brendan Beezley), and photography by Brad Knipstein, capturing the home’s remarkable transformation.
