FOUNDER & OWNERSince the mid-1980s, Norman Charles Construction has been building custom homes that stand the test of time. Founded by Norman Charles, who brought his expertise from Colorado to the Bay Area, the company quickly earned a reputation for meticulous craftsmanship and exceptional service. Today, Norman works alongside his son and co-owner, Vice President Nathan Charles, to personally lead every project. Together, they ensure a consistent standard of quality from concept to completion, guided by values of collaboration, transparency, and proactive problem-solving so that clients feel informed and confident every step of the way.
Norman holds a BSBA in Marketing from the University of Denver and has been involved in property development and construction for over 40 years. Relocating to Marin 50 years ago, he has combined professional success with a family-first philosophy. Married for 40 years and a proud parent of two sons, Norman is also an avid traveler who has explored more than 25 countries, and he continues to enjoy tennis, skiing, and mountain biking. His life and career reflect a dedication to building - not just exceptional homes, but enduring relationships rooted in trust and integrity.
Nathan Charles
OWNER & SENIOR PROJECT MANAGERGrowing up in the Bay Area, Nathan Charles learned the trade directly from his father, Norman, who instilled in him both a love for building and a strong work ethic. While studying in Boulder, Colorado, Nathan worked construction jobs and took on small projects of his own, further honing his skills before returning to California. When the recession hit, he stepped in to help his father navigate challenging times, and through that experience their bond grew stronger. For nearly 20 years, Nathan and Norman have been working side by side - building, managing, and growing Norman Charles Construction together.
As Co-Owner and Vice President, Nathan is committed to upholding the company’s legacy of meticulous craftsmanship, transparent communication, and a collaborative approach that makes each project rewarding for clients. Today, he lives in San Francisco with his wife and feels fortunate to build in the Bay Area and throughout California’s beautiful landscapes. Outside of work, Nathan enjoys playing guitar, cooking, traveling, and skiing.
